To be eligible to apply a student must be currently enrolled as a sophomore or junior in high school. A major emphasis of the program is giving students the opportunity to gain an understanding of biological science research and its interdisciplinary impact on other fields via an in-depth research experience in state-of-the-art laboratories. Each student will undertake a six-week research project in a university laboratory under the mentorship of university research faculty. In addition, students will participate in a lecture series designed to reinforce foundational biological concepts and weekend excursions to the Pacific Ocean, Lake Tahoe, and the Sierra Nevada.
